Bible Plants

During this Christmas season, our attention turns to plants that are significant in our religious lives. Many plants were mentioned in the Bible, but two interesting plants stand out more than others. These are the trees that produce myrrh and frankincense. What do we know about these plants? The scientific name for the myrrh tree is Commiphora molmol syn. C.myrrha belonging to the plant family Burseraceae. This is a tree native to the Arabian peninsula, mainly found in Oman, Yemen, Somalia and in Eastern Ethiopia. It is a small tree about 10 feet tall, with an ash-colored central trunk, and scaly branches with spines. It grows on arid, rocky, poor soils being adapted to grow under harsh, desert conditions. It is low spreading with a canopy like a cedar. The leaves are few, trifoliate, small and oval in shape. Each leaf is made up of 3 unequal leaflets. Myrrh is used in incense, religious rituals, perfume, cosmetics, and medicine. Thousands of years ago in the Middle East, people used myrrh as medicine for treatment of a variety of ailments. Another tree native to the Arabian region is Boswelia caraterii, which produces an aromatic gum resin, frankincense from its sap. It belongs to the same family as the myrrh tree. It has stiff, low branches and red flowers. The resin from the sap was used as a incense in religious...

Backyard Storage Sheds – Do I Need a Building Permit?

Unfortunately every city and township in the country is different in regards to building permits for backyard storage sheds. I strongly suggest you make an anonymous call to you local building department before you start shopping for a shed so you have an idea on the size you are allowed to get and any other codes you need to know. Play stupid, tell them you want to build a backyard storage shed in your yard, what do you have to do. Most cities have size and height restrictions. The size is measured in square feet, width times length equals square feet. I suggest you get the largest shed allowed in your local community. I have heard my shed is too small thousands of times. Very few cities allow more then one accessory building so unless you want to tear the building down and build another, get the size right the first time. Other restrictions may concern the placement of the shed in your yard. Most cities will have a distance it must be off of your property lines and how far away from other structures or easements it must be. If a permit is required your city may ask for a plot plan, building schematic and a picture of the shed. You can use a photo from the brochure the shed seller has and they also should provide you...

Real Estate Property Values – Ranked High

Rob Norquist, a real estate agent admits that Newport Beach is as active as it used to be, with some good record sales. He also agrees with the fact that a property, should never be considered deprecated, and as a seller, you should never give up and use the low end price. It is true that, during a certain period of time, depending on the real estate market, client’s desire, real estate auctions, there may be moments when a property’s price drops, but not forever. Other cities such as, Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Irvine or Mission Viejo – are considered among other 25 cities as being the ones with the best real estate property values, with average values of $680,000 and more. The national average value in 2007 was $194,300. However, some property values are based on subjective answers from residents living in a certain home, so the given numbers , and real estate evaluation may be hanging on a wishful thinking instead of a real appreciation . This is where real estate auctions come in picture, to inform potential clients about the property, and the investment possibilities, giving them a clear image of the real estate’s worth. Even though some buildings such as Orange County properties , dropped their values in 2007, but they recovered extremely well after. So this is another reason why as a seller, you...
